KidSafeBrowser is a Free Internet Browser , based on MS Edge (Chromium) Browser .
'Safe' , because users can only visit sites that are Pre-Approved and stored in an Approved-Links-File .
This makes it ideal for Kids as well as Businesses .
The KidSafeBrowser runs in the 'Microsoft WebView2 Environment' . If you are running on Winows 11 .
It is already installed .
If you are running Windows 7, 8, or 10 , you will need to Install it . This package can be downloaded and Installed from here:
https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/
Once you are there , click on the
"Evergreen Standalone Installer , version 'x64' [Download Button]" .
This will popup a new screen . At the bottom of this screen ,
Click on the Blue Button named [Accept and Download] .
This will download an 'Install File' named 'MicrosoftEdgeWebView2RuntimeInstallerX64.exe' into to your 'Downloads Folder' .
Double-Click on that file , it will now install the 'Microsoft WebView2 Environment' onto your computer .
The KidSafeBrowser package can be Downloaded here:

It Downloads as a .zip file (ksb.zip) , which contains :
1) the 'KidSafeBrowser program (KidSafeBrowser.exe)' ,
2) the 'KidSafeBrowser-EDITOR program (KidSafeBrowser-EDITOR.exe)' .
This EDITOR program is used to maintain the Approved-Links-Files , LinkLank.ksb and SitePlats.ksb .
3) Help Docs , images , etc. , See Links to All the Docs at top-of-this-page .
DOWNLOAD_instructions:
Open your browser to:
kidsafebrowser at sourceforge.net
then Click on the Green [Download Button] . This will Download the .zip file to your Browser's 'Download Folder' .
Open WindowsExplorer to the 'Downloads Folder' .
Find the .zip file , and DoubleClick on it .
This will Open the .zip File , and there you will see the 'ksb' FOLDER .
Copy that Folder and Paste into a convenient Location , For example 'C:\ksb' .
Depending on your user's computer-savvy , you might want to hide the Folder elsewhere .
You can change its' location to a more secretive/secure place if needed .
KidSafeBrowser.exe and KidSafeBrowser-EDITOR.exe must reside in the same Folder .
Now Create a Shortcut for KidSafeBrowser.exe
and paste in onto the user's Desktop .
And that's it !
PASSWORD_instructions:
Running the KidSafeBrowser-EDITOR program :
In the 'ksb' FOLDER Double-Click on the KidSafeBrowser-EDITOR.exe .
This will open the program , and it will ask you for a 'Password' .
The password will ALWAYS be the name of the Folder where KidSafeBrowser-EDITOR.exe resides .
In our example , it Folder name is "ksb"
For instance , if you planted the Folder here 'C:\ksb' ,
your password will be "ksb" , case sensitive , no Quotes .
You can of course change the Folder name and its'
location at any time ..
But remember , changing Folder name , will also change your password .
About Approved Links files :
There are TWO 'Approved Links' files , SitePlats.ksb and LinkLank.ksb .
SitePlats.ksb is for Approving WHOLE Sites , meaning "ANYTHING on this site is SAFE" .
For example 'vmars.us' .
LinkLank.ksb is for individual Links on a particular site .
For example :
'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qOif1tEDZ0' .
Warning about using youtube.com :
Do not put a Link to 'youtube.com or
youtube.be' in SitePlats.ksb file :
ELSE Anything on youtube becomes available .
There is much on youtube that is not appropriate for those under age 18 .
